One of the texts that I’ve been teaching since the very beginning of my career as an educator – in the very first college course I taught, nearly 20 years ago – is Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics. This rich work is a classic not only for the field of Ethics as a whole, but particularly for Virtue Ethics.
In this course, we go through the entirety of the text – all ten books. I meet with students weekly through video-conferencing (which is recorded for students who can’t make the sessions). Students also engage with each other and myself through discussion forums. I also provide them with 10-25 minute lecture videos, lesson pages, handouts, worksheets, quizzes, and yet other resources, all housed in one well-organized course site.
The first section of Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics is running at present. The next sections that will be offered will run through the following dates:
- October 23 – December 17, 2016
- February 19 – April 15, 2017
