Prohairesis in Epictetus’ Stoic Moral Theory

Earlier this week, I gave an invited talk as part of the Midwest Seminar in Ancient and Medieval Philosophy hosted by Marquette University, focused on the meaning and history of a key term of ancient moral theory – prohairesis, the faculty of choice, which some translate as “the will”.

We had some excellent discussions in the course of the talk, and Marquette University filmed it, so hopefully, later on this month, I should have a copy of the footage for all those who might have liked to attend the talk!
