The Eight Basic Tastes of Food

Partnering with the Whitefish Bay Library, we put on a new type of event for us – a talk coupled with a tasting, focused on the history of flavor distinctions.  From the times of the ancient Greeks all the way through the 18th century, there was a longstanding tradition of differentiating more flavors or “tastes” than the for (or sometimes five) commonly distinguished today.
