ReasonIO Turns 5!

Yesterday, I started getting a number of messages on LinkedIn, congratulating me on my five-year anniversary as president and co-founder of ReasonIO.  As the main principal of that company, I’m actually kept so busy, I don’t typically pay much attention to benchmarks like that, but in this case, I think it’s worthwhile to actually take a pause and reflect a bit about it.

The co-founder of ReasonIO is Andi Sciacca, who is both my wife and my partner in work, and quite frankly, it was her advocacy and support – even a lot of cheerleading – that helped me envision breaking away from the confines of a traditional academic career (in which I’d began engaging in public speaking, faculty development, academic leadership, and assessment of learning).

I continued to teach, as an adjunct, partly for a traditional college that was getting into online education, and partly for innovative educational startups, in order to bring in some income.  But, over the last five years, I’ve been engaged in content production (on YouTube, Curious, and soon, with PocketStoic), philosophical counseling and executive coaching, online and face to face tutorial services, a variety of consulting projects,as well as training in ethics, practical reasoning, and critical thinking .  Most recently, we launched the first of what will be many ReasonIO online classes.

There’s much more to be said about all this – and I think I may in fact do that in multiple formats later on today or this weekend.  I’ll close by simply noting how fortunate I have been – and am –  to have a dynamic and supportive partner like Andi, and to have a product to offer for which there turns out to be a significant and steady demand.

    1. Thanks! It’s a somewhat strange thing, having that much of an image of me out there, who is most of the time (thanks to planning, research, and editing) smarter-sounding than the actual me!
